Counseling

Couples / Relationships

Couples/relationship therapy is provided at any stage of a relationship. There is someone out there for everyone; it’s a matter of finding them and knowing what you’re looking for. If you know who you are and what your makeup is, that’s the beginning of finding your true heart’s desire reflected in another.

Or, perhaps there’s something about your long term relationship, partnership or marriage seems a bit off. Or you’ve reached a point in your life where you’re open to the idea of a relationship and not entirely sure what that may look like. You may have had a string of go-nowhere relationships and want to discover why your relationship history seems to resemble a repeat of the same story over and over. Another possibility could be the notion of a nontraditional relationship (polyamory, swinging, throuples…to name a few) is appealing but you’re unsure how to navigate this course in life.

Couples/relationship counseling can help with many issues, including communication problems, intimacy concerns, conflict resolution, substance abuse and infidelity. Specialized training along with life experience can guide a couple toward returning to more successful ways to negotiate challenges, and to make agreements that lead to a successful and growing partnership.

Through integrative therapy methods & techniques, you will be supported in exploring your needs within the relationship as well as strengthen your communication and passion for one another. Couples/relationship counseling consists of reviewing how you met & initially connected, the current status both individually and as a couple, and how you (as a partner and individual) would like to see this grow, evolve and mature into the future.

Individuals

Therapy is for everyone. Therapy is building a collaborative relationship between people – in this setting a therapist and a client. It is helping a client grow, learn about themselves, ultimately heal and discover their inner happiness. It’s people sitting down and having a conversation—without judgments or psychobabble. Just support. The work we do will help uncover issues you may not be aware of yet, help you to understand and process the information and work past it toward a life of wellness. We’ll work together to learn skills to manage stress and emotions, and how to communicate in a deep, effective way.

Therapy is only part of the process. The more you practice methods & techniques outside of session and make this part of your life, the better the results!

Therapy isn’t a magical fix and resembles more of a mental and emotional tune-up. It’s a process that happens gradually. Therapists don’t just listen and give advice- it’s a collaborative process that involves both people. Therapy is your journey with the therapist as a guide to help you stay focused and on track with the goals we’ll establish together leading to your desired outcome (whatever that may look like). It’s challenging and takes courage and strength. Anyone can benefit from therapy. It’s a healthy way to learn about yourself and to gain life skills.
